day 2 was full.
we slept in.
when we finally did wake up, we did so with a strong urge to eat. so we strolled over to king's highway and had chilaquiles, poblano & cheddar grits and ricotta hot cakes.
despite the high volume of patrons, the diner quality  was surprisingly bomb.
we hung out at the ace for a swim and ball throw and then headed to skyy coconut escape at the renaissance esmeralda resort for party time.
there were some pretty people in pretty things so i snapped a few.
vampire eric even made an appearance.
when the party ended we headed to the show.
it was a clusterfuck getting in.
we made it in just as the shins started.
they sounded good but i never was a huge fan.
but feist, i was looking forward to.
we found our friends and then got weird.
leslie feist puts on a show...
rowdy!
she was... rowdy.
and dressed in tie dye and bling- must copy.
did i mention how she was beyond sweaty and rowdy?
she filled her stage with an orchestra hell bent on slaying the crowd.
they did, they did.
her manson family back up singers sang and danced like ethereal banshees.

bon iver was quite pretty sounding.
but my husband reminded me of the saturday night live sketch in which justin timberlake plays vernon and stops by beyonce and jay z's residence to sing to their baby.
beyonce(maya rudolph) says,
"but bon iver, we were just about to put our baby to sleep"
his retort: "trust me, this'll help"
for "some" reason we decided to ruin our friends time by reminding them of the sketch.
we proceeded to sit there 70% totally in awe of the beauty of the sound and 30% laughing our asses off.
and then...
radiohead!!!!
kid a
feral
house of cards
nude
idioteeque
and so many more.
thom yorke is a workaholic and i love him so.
jam sessions = dance sessions= fuckyesdontstop.
oh radiohead.
i quite enjoyed the song, karma police.
the crowd, chorused like mad.
thom was thrilled.
the jackal behind us took to entertaining between songs with shouting concert riddles like:
"has anyone seen my face?"
pause
"it's literally missing!"
i would have normally been annoyed
but the shit was true.

friday was the first day of the 2nd weekend of coachella.
we arrived in palm springs and checked into the ace hotel.
we ate a snack, hydrated and headed to the festivities.
we arrived a little into arctic monkeys.
i wasn't really feeling the sound so we trekked over to madness.
they sounded good but i  could have gone without the banter.
a bit wonky...what what?
so we left to go back to the coachella stage to see what we really fucking came for.
PULP
jarvis did not disappoint.
i danced and sang/shouted along as i watched mr. cocker's hips sway and grind.
charming, he is.
they played one hell of a set list.
and then there was mazzy star.
hope sandavol has been the object of my melancholy affection for quite some time.
like...i used to make intricate hemp jewelry whilst listening to her sweet voice.
like when i was 17 i used to seduce long haired, skinny, teenage boys to ghost highway.
like when i first saw her perform in chicago at the metro i would have gotten a sex change for a chance to get inside her guts.
so you can imagine my heartbreak when i watched her sing abjectly and a bit tinny as her band clad in mediocrity played like sleepwalkers.
like she didn't even plan her stage lighting.
so we bolted over to the rapture.
of course they were good.
and then atari teenage riot started their thing.
also very good.
nostalgia and stuff.
the black keys sounded pretty fucking lovely.
i must admit, i find them just okay in my daily life when i listen in my car, but their live sound is something else.
explosions in the sky was... fine
most memorable?
fucking
PULP.

i have been admittedly very absent in the blogosphere.  it's terrible of me.  but my excuse is weeks of nonstop work followed by coachella!!!!  yes! we made it to coachella!  it all happened a bit last minute.  sam only decided that he wanted to partake in the adventure days before.  we were able to get him a ticket and book a room at the ace in palm springs.
i am now back in la with a perma grin.  it was amazing.
photos soon, i promise!

i have been wanting a bright pop of color in my wardrobe for a while but haven't been up for spending too much.
i went to target to shop for a prop styling job i did for wet seal, when i spotted this satchel.
the material is not my dream, but for under $30, come on... totally worth it.
(even if i only carry it all of 3 times)
i see it becoming my new kit.
in prop stylist terms a kit carries the essentials you need on a shoot.
mainly tools for rigging and stuff.
it will eventually hold:
scissors, topstick, safety pins, mini clamps, monofilament, knife, wire, wire cutters, mini hammer, screw gun, screws,
t pins, evian mist, lip balm, sunblock, hand sanitizer.

i have a lot of photo editing to do.
i took many photos but was unable to sneak my good cam into the fest.
so the photos may look as hazy as my days and nights seemed to be...

what up with that?
i am looking for a more permanent dye.
tomorrow i may pick up some special effects dye and experiment at home.
awww shit...
i know this post lacks discipline.
my edit is shameless.
but it's late and i'm trying to post daily.
i just really like these shorts and this tee.
these shots are all taken at my house in the garden, paths leading to the garden and the tiki hut.
most of my photos are taken at my house.

i dragged the boy to the native la flea market on sunday.
i met some beautiful people and bought some amazing pieces.
my favorite part of the day was meeting emily of vaalbara designs.
